چکیده

introduction. quality assessment of medical student’s knowledge and way of practical and laboratory teaching is one of the priority studies in medical education. the aim of this study is going over these skills in different majors of babol medical university, in order to improve the quality and circumstances of education. methods. this descriptive- analytical study was performed as cross-sectional on students who were undergraduate or medico in 1st term of 2001-2002. data were collected by special questionnaires (which their validity and reliability were performed and based on likert’s scale) by edc of concerned ministry. sample collection (n=705) was done among who had chosen practical and laboratory course. then data were entered in spss and analyzed by kruskalwalis test, spearman and pearson coefficients. results. mean satisfaction score about teaching practice & laboratory course in each questionnaire was 3.16(min:0-max:4-sd:0.9), which in undergraduate students was greater than medico(3.29 versus 2.73). the highest score belonged to hematology (m:3.79-sd:0.2) and the least to surgery (m:2.1-sd:0.3) . by kruskal-wallis test, we found that mean satisfaction score was significant in all questions (p=0.000). to be on time in class (90.6%), explanation sufficient theory(79%), observation between theory and practice (78.4%), participation in practical teaching (79.3%), introduction of proper references (67.5%), motive production toward research (70.4%), get accustomed to professional duties(75.5%) had been impressed by student. spearmans’ correlation coefficient was significant among all questions too (p=0.000). conclusion. we concluded that satisfaction score about practice and laboratory teaching- especially in undergraduate got a high score, as the low satisfaction score belonged to motive production toward research and absence of complete reference. we recommend that educational managers must pay attention to these agents and take necessary actions to fill defects.
